How does your garden grow?

Hope you’re in the mood for more flower photos, because things got nuts in the garden this month…

Mandevilla
Bottlebrush, with a few mock orange blossoms in the background.
Moonflower
Asiatic lily, my favorite color scheme.
Another color scheme. These blooms are as big as my hand. The stalks are 6 feet tall. These things are INSANE!
Best year for gladiolas EVER!
Beautiful clarkia, which no one remembers ever planting…
Sure, it’s a normal marigold, but it was grown from a seed! We didn’t cheat and pick up a six pack from Home Depot.
It’s been a great year for sunflowers!
“Red Sun.” I wonder why they call it that?
A Kentucky Derby rose, right on time!
Pumpkin blossoms!

Why should the flowers get all the attention?

“Daffodowndilly”

Allow me to wax poetic with someone else’s words for a moment:

She wore her yellow sun-bonnet,
She wore her greenest gown;
She turned to the south wind
And curtsied up and down.
She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbor:
“Winter is dead.”

A shout-out to A. A. Milne for the appropriate description. And no, this isn’t in my yard. None of our daffodils showed up this year.

Has spring sprung?

So it begins.

Monumental things are afoot, even in my own backyard.

Start out with a nice cup of something hot.  Decaf instant coffee with some flavored powdered stuff in it.  My morning beverage means a lot to me, can’t you tell?  You can’t beat the way it was served, though.

Out of sight under a roof of leaves, a nasturtium blooms.

A nice display over by the ancient wheelbarrow.

Alfie can smell it…spring is definitely in the air.  Time to load up on antihistamines.

It is a wonderful thing to be able to work at home and enjoy this every day.  I am grateful for this every waking hour.
