Palm Springs: RoboLights.

This is a famous art installation in the swanky “Movie Colony” neighborhood. This somewhat loopy guy inherited a fancy estate from his parents, then proceeded to fill it with garbage…I mean repurposed items…that is lit up with a massive number of lights.

These creations stay up all year and fill the entire property. The guy almost bankrupted himself with his light bills, and there have been lots of lawsuits from neighbors.

Not hard to see why, but it was kind of fun to see it.

Brunch on the Queen…

The ongoing renovations on the Queen Mary have really improved the place. This room looked spectacular.

So much beautiful woodwork everywhere, and nary a squared off corner in sight.

Art deco at its finest.

The Queen Mary is really a very special place. It’s like a real-life time travel.

The food was great and the price included ship admission and parking, so we had the run of the place after.

There were plenty of holiday photo ops!

Beautiful art deco frosted glass panels. Glorious.

It was a nice, atmospheric, foggy day. You could almost imagine you were on a voyage.

At the local art supply emporium…

Good news is always welcome. Even if it literally comes from a dumpster.

It’s looking into my soul!

I need to brush up on my photography skills.

I never get tired of looking at marbled art paper. I am easily entertained.

He’s not shy. Just a little koi.

The Icee cup makes it.

…and my favorite, the kingfisher. It’s a good group of murals.

At the Cerritos Sculpture Garden

This place is an underrated gem.

I’ve always liked this one for some reason.

The duck is unimpressed.

That looks uncomfortable.

This is supposedly a model of the statue at the top of the U. S. Capitol.

I’m a fan of the curves.

Will no one stop that marauding horrible spiky red alien. Will no one thing of the children?
