California ground squirrel, Clark Regional Park
This guy, taking his sweet time…
Mr. Crook, our resident #1 Western fence lizard. You can tell it’s him because of the kink in his tail, the fact that he’s big for his species, and the direct, sassy eye contact he gives you. My day is made when I see this guy.
At the best park of all…
Alfie’s a big fan of Clark Regional Park…
I love big, tall, mature trees!
I always half expect something to pop out of the haunted looking log.
The beautiful yellow sandstone of the Los Coyotes Hills…
No superbloom yet. But really pretty and green anyway.
Black-crowned night heron.
It was a beautiful spring day!
Looking across the lake.
Like I said, she’s a big fan.
Busy bee…
The pedigree of honey
Does not concern the bee;
A clover, any time, to him
Is aristocracy.

“Please help me! I’m starving, I tell ya!”
I don’t know why this guy is begging so hard. Clearly he gets more food than his fellow fish. Probably ate several of them to get that big.
Lesser scaup action at the wetlands…
Good looking duck…
…swims underwater like a BOSS!

Gonna be a skimpy month, but anyway…
I went to Bolsa Chica…surprise surprise!!!!
Trying out the panorama lens at Bolsa Chica…
…and again.
It was clear enough to see the colors and contours of the foothills.
Mr. and Mrs. Surf Scoter enjoying an outing.
American widgeon…I think.
December at the wetlands…
Brown pelican.
Pelican in flight…
There have been quite a few pelicans at the wetlands recently.
I think they look like dinosaurs.
A Southern California December day…
Become ungovernable.
The only snowflake in sight.
These two know each other. The pelican is begging. The fisherman obliged.
Here he is, with a tad more dignity. This is a brown pelican with his breeding plumage.
Saddleback, looking good.
#1 winter sport with the locals.
What are these dudes doing in my yard in December?
Begone, Hellbeast!
You’re months too late, little guy. All of your buddies metamorphosed ages ago!
