Well, wonder no more. The answer is…in trees.

These guys were enjoying the waning days of summer before heading to Palm Springs for the winter.

Willets and curlews.

Cattle egret reflecting on egret things.

Stay for the horrible 15 lb. slugs.

Beautiful at any time of the year!

A bold cattle egret. You try to squeeze by him and he just stands there and screeches at you.

Egrets at lunch.

Sunbathers.

Curlew.

Great heron.

Watching this mom and her two little ones was a real kick.

…but she’s still a cutie.

California ground squirrel, Clark Regional Park

This guy, taking his sweet time…

Mr. Crook, our resident #1 Western fence lizard. You can tell it’s him because of the kink in his tail, the fact that he’s big for his species, and the direct, sassy eye contact he gives you. My day is made when I see this guy.

Alfie’s a big fan of Clark Regional Park…

I love big, tall, mature trees!

I always half expect something to pop out of the haunted looking log.

The beautiful yellow sandstone of the Los Coyotes Hills…

No superbloom yet. But really pretty and green anyway.

Black-crowned night heron.

It was a beautiful spring day!

Looking across the lake.

Like I said, she’s a big fan.
