A day at the races…

The beautiful art deco clubhouse, sporting a lovely new coat of paint. There is no sporting venue like this one.

Old art deco style signage.

He looks…concerned.

I got a Lava Man poster signed by Corey Nakatani (his jockey) and trainer (Doug O’Niell). Lava Man had a glorious Hall of Fame career, then retired to work in his trainer’s barn coaching the young’uns in the proper behavior. He was so effective in communicating with his charges, that he did the job of 2 or 3 people. Unbelievably cool horse.

I love this statue of Zenyatta. She was (and is) magical.

My carefully considered choice. Yes, he was the favorite. Don’t judge me. I made enough money to not dip into my own wallet until the very end of the day.

Thank you, Asada Fries, for your outstanding effort.

I love The Great Race Place!

Is there a more beautiful sports venue in the world?

Nom Nom Nom

An Orange County classic!

That’s a lot of good eatin’ right there…

This instantly became one of my favorite stained-glass windows ever…

Me, looking at all that smoked fish…

Another stained glass beauty…

With a front door like this, you know it’s gonna be good…

Excellent advice for living added, for free!

Crab Cooker for the win!

Adorable Alfie

“Where’s my adoring fan club from New Zealand?”

“When’s that pitbull next door coming outside? I want to taunt it into a frenzy!”

“Oh, I know you like to sit here. But you see, I don’t care.”

“I hate the stupid Pacific Air Show more than anything. Even going to the vet.”

Best thing about today: 12/6/21

Best thing about today? Went to the local mall — very tony place — just to walk around and do a little shopping. It’s an outdoor place with lots of grandiose mis-60s architecture with a nice view of the Pacific. Koi pond, nice landscaping, and a gorgeous Christmas tree that is a popular photo op. Got the Christmas shot set up, perfect pose, loyal pooch posting adorably. And…I look down and the dog is taking a dump on the pristine display. While wearing a scarf that says “L’il Angel”. Merry Christmas, Newport Beach! You’re welcome!

What a deal!

Best thing about today? The shoes I wear for my flat (flat!) feet are expensive (Brooks Ariel @ $160 a pop). At least they’re expensive to me. So I’ve taken to searching for them on eBay. I’ve scored a number of good deals on either new or lightly worn shoes and I’ve saved myself hundreds. I’m stockpiling them…it’s my way of prepping, lol. But today I got a virtually new pair for $18. It’s an old model…I believe they’re 2012s…but the damn things look pristine. I am inordinately proud of myself and feel kind of like…
